Kakani Crockery Maker

Kakani vill is known for its crockery and hand printing workshop. We visited one crockery exchange with a live crockery work. A potter showed us his skill in preparing three different particulars in one round of the wheel time – the flower pot, a vessel, and a simple pot. There were kinds of crockery particulars available in the exchange at fixed prices. There was no pressure from the crockery makers to buy anything from them. To me, the prices appeared relatively reasonable. We also visited an exchange of hand-published bed wastes and covers. These painters use blocks made of softwood in colorful designs and use natural colors. Hence, the bed wastes and covers are more premia than what we get at the shops which are using chemical colors for printing. Again, then also there was no pressure from the makers to buy the bed wastes etc.

Salawas Durry Udhyog was established in 1897 byLt. Fatohji, who remains as a source of alleviation to be devoted to working. Presently the association is handled and retained by Mr. Usman Gani. Since the last century, Salawas Durry Udhyog has been manufacturing and supplying all kinds of durries with good quality.
